A Long Way to Learn
A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. Rich and poor have this in common: The Lord is the Maker of them all. The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.

2 - Reflect
Last week I was looking at an ad that promised wealth and luxury with only a minimal investment on the part of the interested party. That episode left me thinking about the choices we sometimes have to make in our own lives: We all -eventually- have to make decisions about our studies, jobs, relationships. Some of them may be difficult, others very obvious.
However, there is always the possibility in this troubled world of being tempted by promises of power, wealth, satisfaction and appearances. When we make the decision to live as children of God we adopt a path that will impact future decisions that come our way, because through the Lord we will understand that life is a spiritual gift and not based on material things and that happiness in life has very little to do with money, influence, economic status, success or other things that divide us by forcing us to compare ourselves with others.
By choosing the Lord, the creator of everything and everyone, we do not need to measure, compare or compete. To choose Him is, on the contrary, to see how similar we are and to celebrate that in any circumstance we can meet in the name of God, who is all-powerful and all-controlling.
