Freshness and Spiritual Renewal

But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile.

2 - Reflect
Last night I decided to watch some television before going to sleep, as if to clear my mind of all my daily worries and get a better rest. I chose to watch a summary of the day's news and, to tell the truth, the result was not what I expected. News of wars, bombings, murders and a compendium of the worst of what human beings are capable of paraded before my eyes.

That - besides depriving me of sleep - gave me a strange feeling of indignation and left me reflecting on the human condition and how that indignation produces anger, resentment and can fill the heart with a misguided desire to take revenge into one's own hands. In short, it steals for a moment that peace that God gives us and that fills us with tranquility and serenity.

The Lord gives us the certainty that his justice will have the last word. The wrath of his firm hand will rescue the goodness in man's heart and discipline him so that he will be aware of the harm he has inflicted.

Therefore, it is important to remember that in the face of man's frustration, impotence, desire for revenge or destructive action, we must take back the peace of our spirit knowing that the Lord promises us that his discipline will make justice reign again.
