Understanding the Importance of Eternal Gratitude
Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat its grapes? Who tends a flock and does not drink the milk? Do I say this merely on human authority? Doesn’t the Law say the same thing? For it is written in the Law of Moses: Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain. Is it about oxen that God is concerned?

Yesterday afternoon I received a very important lesson from my youngest daughter. We were playing in the park near our house and she was swinging with other children who were there. As is her custom, she brought three or four of her many dolls. After several hours, as we were leaving, I saw that one of the girls she had been playing with was leaving with one of my daughter's dolls.
When I told her about it, my daughter said: “Yes, daddy, I gave it to her because she doesn't have any and I have several. That left me reflecting - in addition to being very proud of my daughter - about the true meaning of the word generosity and how many times we do not take into account what we do not really need and that could be useful to others.
Many times we can go above and beyond for those in need and the extent to which we understand and live by God's grace is dictated by how much we give generously to those around us. To be generous with our time, resources and opportunities for others is to follow Christ's example and is the greatest proof that we understand the love and generosity that God unconditionally bestows on us in all circumstances.
