Walking in Confidence of Faith
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Last month we were on vacation with my family in a city where it is common to see dog walkers. I was particularly struck by a dog walker with no less than ten dogs with each of their leashes attached to a large hook like those used in mountaineering. She led the dogs through the park and then took them to a special pet area. It was a delight to see the love with which she treated the dogs, the affection in each of her caresses and the care she gave them.
Inevitably the image of God as a shepherd and us as his flock came to my mind: one of the most beautiful analogies and the example that best represents the love that God has for each one of us.
For the Lord always saw us as His flock, which always needs special care and love. That is why He, like His sheep, takes care of us, knows our needs, keeps us in abundant supply, fed and healthy. If the flock loses its way for an instant, He again directs it and leads it away from danger. But most important of all, the Lord does all this motivated only by His eternal love.
