The Perfection of the Holy Spirit

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!

2 - Reflect
Last night, while watching a movie on TV, I saw -during the commercials- an infomercial about a new device capable of shaping your body in a few weeks and thus get the abs of a high performance athlete; in short: a total fallacy.

But what left me thinking for a long time is the fact that nowadays it is completely normal to come across this kind of information in which absolute perfection is sought: the abs of an athlete, the intelligence of a nuclear physicist, the longevity of Asians or the tonicity of a bodybuilder. When comparing - as is my habit - with what happens while walking God's path, I realized that sometimes we feel that walking with God and serving his purpose implies a perfect performance from us.

We may come to think that counting on the presence of the Lord is only possible if we do not make any mistakes. However, the goodness and grace of God contemplates that we are not infallible and that through falls, disappointments and burdens we are making our character and our faith in Him solid. When we are called to assume a position in any of our realities and we feel overwhelmed by the fear of failure, we should change our perspective and remember that God does not choose perfect men simply because there are no such, and perfection itself resides only in Him.
