1 - READ THE WORD
Not Being Selfish in the World
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
1 Timothy 6:17-19

2 - Reflect
Whatever we have in excess is a heavy burden in our life. Accumulation sickens the soul. It is worry, fear, ambition and greed. All these feelings corrode the peace of the heart. And they are a visible temptation in our days. Society as a whole invites us to consume, to buy unnecessary goods that only serve our vanity. Ostentation accompanies us along the way and simplicity is being forgotten.
And we deceive ourselves, thinking that this is necessary to be in the world. For we do not believe what advertising sells us, it is only our immense insecurity that leads us to buy what is not necessary just to feel more important. The importance of a person resides in his good works, the Father tells us. He will provide us with everything we need, for He has created the world for our benefit.
To trust in Him is to accept that giving is receiving, that trusting is believing and that it is not material goods that will open the gates of Heaven. The closed hand does not open the gates of Paradise, let go of the material and take care of your spirit, because the Kingdom of God belongs to the poor and generous.
