Balancing Thoughts and Emotions
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-3

2 - Reflect
My youngest son was asking me yesterday: why does everyone insist on being thankful to God all the time? Are we also supposed to be thankful when bad things happen to us? I replied that a good question needed a well thought out answer, so I would answer him later.
Reflecting on the matter, I came to the conclusion that the importance of thanking God at all times makes us see the situations we go through in our lives in a particular way: It is about enjoying every moment, about understanding what Jesus wants to teach us when He presents us with a complicated situation and what He wants to teach us with a situation of joy or happiness.
The difficult situations that the Lord puts before us mean greater presence and care that God gives us, new ways of seeing and valuing what has been given to us; while the situations of joy and happiness mean a period of tranquility as a reward for the difficult moments.
And I believe that it all boils down to enjoying each season in the Lord: not wanting to prolong the good ones nor to speed through the bad ones, but to be fully present and ready to receive in any circumstance the beautiful blessings that the Lord will pour into our lives, no matter where and how we find ourselves.
